Polish and floss (10 minutes)
A prophy paste polish removes surface stains, followed by flossing and a fluoride treatment on request.

Doctor exam (10 minutes)
Dr. Patel or Dr. Whitfield checks each tooth, your gums, and your X-rays, then answers questions before you leave.
Before your visit
- Bring your insurance card; we file claims for 8 plans the same day.
- Arrive 10 minutes early for a first visit to complete registration.
- Bring a list of current medications to review at the chair.
- Eat beforehand if you like; there are no food restrictions before a cleaning.

A routine cleaning starts at $120. We accept 8 insurance plans including Delta Dental, Cigna, and MetLife, and we file claims the same day.
Teeth cleaning questions
How often should I get a cleaning?
Every 6 months for most patients. If you have gum disease, Dr. Patel or Dr. Whitfield may recommend a 3 or 4 month interval instead.
Does a cleaning hurt?
Most patients feel vibration and pressure, not pain. Tell your hygienist if an area is sensitive and they will apply a topical numbing gel.
How long does a cleaning take?
Plan on 60 minutes for a routine visit, including X-rays and the doctor exam. A cleaning without X-rays runs closer to 45 minutes.
What is a deep cleaning?
Scaling and root planing, a treatment for gum disease that removes tartar below the gumline. It is priced separately from a routine cleaning, and we quote it in writing after your exam.
